Natalie Le Clerc Biography
Natalie Elaine Le Clerc was born in Bulli, Australia on November 12, 1972. She is currently a senior executive of the international boutique hotel chain, Red Carnation Hotels, a subsidiary of the tourism juggernaut, The Travel Corporation. The Travel Corporation also owns the travel company Le Clerc worked for before moving to Red Carnation Hotels – Contiki Holidays.
Natalie Le Clerc received a travel diploma from Traveland College, Sydney, upon completing her studies in 1991; in 1999 and 2001 she successfully completed tour manager training.
Red Carnation Hotels
In November 2008, Natalie Le Clerc began running the new Breezes Resort and Spa, located in Bali, Indonesia, a tourist haven for Australians, Europeans, and Southeast Asians. Le Clerc was in charge of remodeling and rebranding the Breezes Resort and Spa from a three-star hotel to a four-star boutique establishment. While managing the refurbishment of the resort, she reported directly to the managing director of Red Carnation Hotels.
As resort manager Natalie Le Clerc was expected to ensure the profitability and sustainability of the rebranded hotel after The Travel Corporation’s multimillion dollar investment. In order to achieve that goal, Le Clerc made sure that all resort operations functioned at their best, including entertainment, food and beverage, sales, marketing, finance and security.
She was also in charge of hiring new workers to staff the hotel and trained them to meet the exacting standards of service mandated by the operating procedures of Red Carnation Hotels. Part of her success can be attributed to the strong business relations she built and maintained with international tour operators and wholesalers, as well as her marketing strategies, tailored specifically to the region.
Prior to becoming part of Red Carnation Hotels, the resort was under the Contiki Holidays brand, a company Natalie Le Clerc had been working for since the 1990s.
Contiki Holidays
Natalie Le Clerc's last position in Contiki Holidays, before she moved on, was that of general resort manager of Contiki Bali. She spent a total of three years in the Contiki resort, two as assistant to the manager and one as the manager.
The Contiki resort included 133 rooms and the guests, as per Contiki Holidays policy, were between the ages of 18-35 years old. Le Clerc was integrally involved in the pre-opening phase of the resort in September 2005, including the hiring and training of staff and setting up on-site activities for the guests. Besides being responsible, in collaboration with the resort manager, for the achievement of the annual budgets, Natalie Le Clerc was also regularly present at the guest areas, resolving complaints and seeking feedback from guests.
Between 2002 and 2005, Le Clerc held management roles in two Contiki resorts – one in Mykonos, Greece and the other in Great Keppel Island, Australia. In the latter resort she was promoted after six months from activities and entertainment supervisor to guest services manager of the 181-room hotel.
Prior to that she was tour manager in Europe for Contiki Holidays, and held numerous positions in the tourism business throughout the world.
Private Life
Natalie Le Clerc's life outside of the travel industry includes an array of physical activities. Of these, she most enjoys practicing yoga and Pilates.
